Chip’s B2B Tip #104 - Word?
.
B2B Tip #104 - No Big Deal?
.
Promise you'll call at a certain time.
Agree to send an email on a certain day.
Set up to do your part by Friday.
Then - wooooooppsssss - it just doesn't happen.
What does that say about you? You had great and wonderful intentions when you made your promise. Sure - you fully intended to do as you said.
But - oh, gee - you forgot.
Or you were 'busy.'
Or you have to look in your black book of excuses du jour to find a 'credible' one.
The real problem is that you weren't faithful to do as you promised. Your word had no value, no substance. Your promise and agreement were only hollow words. Merely air.
Uninformed people used to say that "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me."
Enlightened people now agree that such a saying is ridiculous.
You'll NEVER truly OWN anything except your word.
You're a mere steward of everything else. Don't believe me? Next time you see a hearse, see if there is a Brinks truck or a moving van following it.
There won't be.
The Bible says that a good name is to be treasured above riches. If your word isn't 'good' - your name won't be, either. Your relationships will all falter and fail. (And your business doesn't have a prayer, either. )
