Chip’s B2B Tip #62 - Great News

.
B2B Tips #62 - News from my Ortho Surgeon
.

Yes - this is totally off-topic.

If you have been following my somewhat disshevelled (sp?) life since our car wreck of 2/5/05 - thank you again for caring.

This afternoon my ortho surgeon told me that the hideous brace I've been wearing for the last 4 weeks worked. I do NOT have to have collar bone surgery.

Yea!

To the scores of people who sent cards, letters, emails, well-wishes, and everything else - I thank you from the bottom of my heart. These last 3 months have been the most difficult times of my life.

God Bless you -

Chip's B2B Tip #61 - Google PR Updated

.
B2B Tip #61 - Check Your PR
.

Quick Note:

I just got another wonderful newsletter from Dr. Andy Williams (of ez-search-engine-optimization.com) stating that Google had finally gotten around to updating its PR numbers (typically - 'Page Rank' ... perhaps more meaningful when called 'Public Relations'.)

(He also mentioned a couple of new products from my friend Adrian Ling worth checking out. )

So - if you have the Google toolbar installed - check your own ratings.

My PR for FCS went from a 4 to a 5, and this blog from 0 to 4.

So after four months of publishing this FCS blog, Google finally decided to give it a Page Rank ... which seems reasonable since it's - at last check - #1 on AOL, MSN, and Google, and #4 at Yahoo and Overture.

See for yourself at any major SE by using the search phrase 'B2B Tips.'

As we know - these rankings change so often that I wonder if they have any meaning at all. I do subscribe to the opinion that they DO have an effect on your traffic, though ...

Personally - I think Google is so enamored (sp?) by its own analysis, that it has paralyzed itself. For a fuller meaning, look at the first four letter of the word analysis.

Chip’s B2B Tip #58 - The System Seminar

.
B2B Tip #58 - The Best-of-the-Best Live Events - The System Seminar
.

This is short. No fluff. No filler.

This is true.

You'll absolutely never - NEVER - get further faster in your online / offline business than going to a live event and meeting the people who are already successfully doing this stuff. Period.

Read a hundred ebooks and listen to a hundred audios ... and the people who go to live events will still be miles ahead of you - simply because they met the players who are doing it and learned the newest cutting edge tips, techniques, and methods that work TODAY.

They started building relationships ... in person.

This is the Number One Advangage you will ever have. Anyone who tells you something different will lie to you about something else, too.

Just do it. Find the money. Borrow it. Charge it. Doesn't matter - just do it.

Chip’s B2B Tip #56- Ken McCarthy call notes

.
B2B Tip #56 - Notes from my 3/31 interview by Ken McCarthy
.

"Top Ten Doable Ways to Succeed Today at B2B Networking, Relationships, and Long-Term Profitable JVs"

4/2/05 note - Due to time contraints, we didn't get to cover about half these notes. Nevertheless, they will help you, and if you're at The System in Chicago in May, we can get together as I host the Beginners' Track Sessions, and we'll discuss all this stuff at length.

We'll take lots of questions in those sessions, and give you concrete methods you can immediately use. You definitely don't want to miss these Chicago sessions ...

3/31 Call Notes:

(1) There are only 3 ways to establish your value -

1. Do what your partner won’t do
2. Do what your partner can't do
3. Do what your partner doesn't feel like doing

Of Additional Importance:

Your industry and experience level are not important and don’t really matter / everyone starts from the exact same place ... ground zero. Listening is your top skill. Never worry about the money. Be concerned with providing a ton of value. The more problems you solve, the more you’re worth. Learn a few traffic tricks like splitting content across different sites, etc., too.

How do you get noticed? Buy one of their products, or at least join their list. Know their mission and vision. The best intro email is to set up a short call.

Find people you can trust. Lots of people out here will lie to your face to get to your credit card.

Here’s a test ... if you’ve been told that the most important line in an email is the subject line ... they’ll lie to you about something else, too. It’s the ‘From’ line.

(2) your # 1 hurdle:

yourself; always / avoid negative people / surround yourself with people who encourage you and believe in you. Paula was my number one supporter. Dad was, too, as I grew up. Are you an optimist or pessimist? Can you be Tiger Woods? Then practice ...

Of Additional Importance:
You’re obsolete – you just don’t know it yet.
You can’ lose till you quit
Know your deal
Know your offer
Know your USP
Picture your destination; back up and measure the steps to get there.
Be someone people can trust
Manage your insides and your outside
Don’t take yourself too seriously
Lost the entitlement attitude
Pay attention to scarcity, urgency, different ways to consume your stuff

(3) your #2 hurdle -
fear of rejection; for most everyone

(4) your #3 hurdle -
choosing the right partner at the onset;
critically important; do your research and pick your partners very carefully.

(5) top successful success keywords -
please
maybe
perhaps
could be
might
(subtle, gentle, polite approach)

(6) how I got 42 marketers-
a good idea
nice manners
what's in it for me
being reliable and dependable during the deal
correct message to market match
accept people for who they are
an endorsed introduction from Marlon Sanders

(7) #1 way to do JV deals -
it's about relationships - not products
how do you build one? It's easy if you know how.

(8) #1 way to start any JV deal -
an endorsed intro at a live event
any endorsed introduction

what's that?

Of Additional Importance:
Be prepared
Be responsive
Try new things
Take risks you can afford
Fail fast and fail forward

(9) To identify your unique characteristics:

Discard all your preconceptions about who you are; they’re probably invalid. Zero in on your uniqueness by asking yourself what about you do people find intriguing? What do they want to know? What questions do they ask?

(10) At all times, be yourself.

That's all you know how to be anyway - right? Go slow and enjoy the journey ... because if you look 'needy' or desperate, you'll be perceived that way ...

Of Additional Importance:
You can never lose till you quit.
Start today from exactly where you are now.
Do you have the courage to change?
Treat people with respect and value their time (Golden Rule)
Trust your intuition
Never use canned letters or emails
Learn to be a huge failure so you can be a Big Winner

Don’t try to change the world; try to change one person’s life today by one act of giving and kindness. Then you can change the world one person at a time.

Experience teaches us to recognize a mistake when we make it again.
Help others – to help yourself.
Get out of your comfort zone.

For traffic – get a blog. Go to my FTT site at http://www.free-targeted-traffic.com to get it.
There’s no better way to establish yourself as an expert in your field.

Model others’ success; learn by imitating
Try to be the original – not a copycat
Step up and deliver the goods
Believe you CAN
Be concerned about what you can change
Relax
Never give up
Think long-term
Sowing and reaping always works
Not every idea is a good idea
Pursue your dreams every day
